ABOUT RHT RAJAN MENON FOUNDATION

Our Vision

  • To establish, inspire and encourage a philanthropic culture among the corporate and legal fraternity of giving back to the community
  • To socialise and actualise such philanthropic culture into meaningful programmes where donors and stakeholders can participate and contribute to directly

Our Mission

  • To provide a framework, platform and channel for corporate social responsibility and pro-bono initiatives
  • Since retiring from politics five years ago, I have remained engaged with the community in various ways as a volunteer in an advisory capacity. In this way, I continue to support some of the key causes I was advocating whilst in office. Charitable causes are one of them. Hence,I can identify with what the RHT Rajan Menon Foundation seeks to do, espousing support for the environment, promotion of education and uplifting the less fortunate. I pushed for greater pro-bono involvement by lawyers and law firms whilst in office. Now, through this platform, I can continue to be involved in this endeavour in a more direct and impactful way.

  • Let me reiterate the reasons why the Foundation is named after Rajan. When we started as RHT Law, we had our CSR firmly in sight as we always wanted our firm to be one of purpose and giving back to society was a
paramount tenet. As our then Senior Partner, Rajan was instrumental to the setting up of the Foundation to focus our CSR activities through the Foundation.”

  • For many years, community development goals were philanthropic activities that were seen as separate from business objectives, not fundamental to them; doing well and doing good in business were seen as major pursuits. But I think that is changing. Setting up RHT RMF allows us to accommodate and incorporate CSR into our business philosophy and policies. It positions us as a business that embraces CSR, and this will in turn attract the right kind of employees, the right kind of commercial counterparts and most importantly, the right kind of interest from the community.
